🔥 Summer Sizzlefest — Two Days of Climbing, Community, and Fun 🔥

Get ready for the Summer Sizzlefest — a two-day bouldering event that brings together the joy of movement, friendly competition, and an inclusive climbing community. Whether you’re brand new to the sport or a seasoned crusher, this event is made for you.


🧗‍♀️ What to Expect:

  • Blind Redpoint Format – Strategy and endurance take center stage. No scores posted per problem means every send counts.
  • Fresh Problems, Familiar Vibes – A mix of comp-style boulders and your favorite BRBG-style setting.
  • Welcoming for All Levels – First-timer or veteran, you’ll feel right at home.


💡 What Makes This Comp Unique?

Each boulder has a hidden point value that loosely reflects its difficulty. But here’s the twist — the score isn’t posted! This blind format encourages climbers to push themselves, climb more, and think strategically. The goal? Rack up as many points as possible during your session


📊 Competition Categories:

  • Beginner: V0–V2
  • Intermediate: V3–V5
  • Advanced: V6+
  • Masters: 40+ years


🏆 Endurance Over Power

Winners in each division will be crowned based on total points earned — not just who climbs the hardest. Climbing smart and staying consistent will be key.


🧩 Setting Style

Expect a mix of competition-style boulders blended with the signature BRBG setting style you know and love.


🌅 Choose Your Climb Time

Are you an early riser or a night owl? You choose your competition window:

  • Friday, June 27th — 7:00 PM
  • Saturday, June 28th — 8:00 AM

  • $30 for Members
  • $50 for Non-Members

Schedule

There are two (2) competition days in the Summer Sizzlefest:


OPTION #1: Friday, June 21

  • 6:00pm: Competitor Check-In Opens
  • BRBG CLOSES GENERAL CLIMBING AT 6:30PM
  • 6:45pm: Rules Briefing
  • 7:00pm - 9:00pm: Heat #1 Competition

OPTION #2: Saturday, June 22

  • 7:00am: Competitor & Spectator Check-In Opens
  • 7:45am: Rules Briefing
  • 8:00am - 10:00am: Heat #2 Competition
  • BRBG REOPENS GENERAL CLIMBING AT 10:01AM

Scoring

Each climb will have its own unique point value which will correspond roughly to its difficulty. There will be no posted score for each climb on the scorecard.


The top climbers will be determined by the accumulation of all points earned in the allotted time, not just the top 5 climbs like most redpoints.

Categories

  Beginner (V0-V2), Intermediate (V3-V5) & Advanced (V6+)


Two (2) Divisions: Male & Female

Day-Of Expectations

Competitors 

  • Arrive at your designated check-in time (you may arrive late but doing so may put you at a disadvantage and you may miss the competitor rules briefing).
  • After checking in at the Front Desk you will be directed to a table to receive your score card.
  • You will have 2-hours to complete as many climbs as possible. 

Spectators 

  • Will need to have a completed waiver on file and check-in at the front desk.
  • Will not be allowed on the padded floors.

Prizes

All competitors will receive a Limited Edition Sizzlefest t-shirt!


1st, 2nd and 3rd place within each category will walk away with a prize from our $1000 prize purse!

Climbing Closures

The gym will close sections of the wall the week leading up to the competition.  Sections will be announced begining of June. 


BRBG will close general climbing at 6:30pm on Friday, 6/27 and will reopen general climbing on Saturday, 6/28 at 10:01am.

 

Competition days: BRBG will be open for competitors and spectators both days. No general climbing will be allowed during competition Friday night or Saturday morning.

Every Individual that enters the facility will need to have a current waiver on file, even if they are only spectating.

Gym Rules will be strictly enforced regarding errant children and spectator behavior that BRBG staff deems unsafe in any way.  Those in violation of posted Gym Rules will be respectfully asked to leave without compensation.


All participants under 18 years old will require either a parent/legal guardian spectator or a confirmed emergency contact on file.
