The Black Rock Bouldering League kicks off October 5 with six weeks of new sets, new challenges, friendly competition, and plenty of reasons to keep climbing.


Here’s the move:

  1. ROUND UP 3–5 CLIMBERS.
  2. COME UP WITH A FUNKY TEAM NAME.
  3. SIGN UP.
  4. THEN GET TO WORK. 💪


Every Monday brings a fresh set of league boulders in KAYA. You and your team have the week to climb, log your sends and attempts, rack up points, and see how you stack up.


Then Monday hits and we do it all over again.

New week. New set. New challenge.


Dates: October 5 – November 15
Teams: 3–5 climbers
Members: $20
Non-Members: $30


Note:
League registration does not include admission to BRBG. If a participant is not a member of BRBG, they will need to buy a day pass or use a Punch Pass on league nights.

How It Works

Every Monday during the six-week league, we’ll release new eligible boulders in the KAYA app.

All eligible climbs can be filtered in the app using the tag "BRBL".


Once you download the Kaya App and register for the "Event", you will have the option to Create a Team, Join a Team, or sign up as a Free Agent and be automatically assigned to a team of awesome people :)


There’s no designated league night and no complicated schedule to follow.


Climb when you normally climb.


Work on the league boulders throughout the week, log your sends and attempts in KAYA, and watch your score build throughout the league.

Scoring

You’ll register for your hardest consistent grade, but you’re encouraged to climb above your grade, and you'll still get points if you climb below your grade.


A first-attempt send at your category starts at:

100 POINTS


From there:


One grade above your category: +10 points

One grade below your category: -20 points

Each additional attempt: -1 point (max. 5 pt deduction)


For example:


If you’re competing as a V3 climber:


V3 on your first attempt = 100 points

V4 on your first attempt = 110 points

V4 on your second attempt = 109 points

V4 on your sixth attempt = 105 points

V2 on your first attempt = 80 points


So yes — trying something harder can pay off BIG!

Team Scoring

Team Sizes:

Minimum: 3 climbers

Maximum: 5 climbers


Top 10 highest scoring ascents per individual will count towards final overall team score.


Consider the individual scoring scenarios. Every team, big and small, beginner to expert, will be able to be competitive based on the relative approach to individual scoring.
